New ROC Patrol Boat

28' and Powered by a Suzuki 175 hp Motor

Here is a picture of what your donation helped pay for in 2018. It is the new patrol boat to which SeaWatch donated $17,400.00 for a new 175 HP Suzuki motor, hydraulics and running gear.

Since March of 2018 it has been operating daily with up to 6 officials from the NAVY, CONANP, PROFEPA and CONAPESCA (Mexican Fisheries) aboard depending on the type and location of the patrol.

With two boats patrolling day and night there have been no illegal fishermen found in the last 9 months in the Espiritu Santo National Park, whereas in the 12 months before that, 13 boats, motors, compressors and all equipment and catch were confiscated.

While this boat will add $45,000 (fuel and direct labor) to our operating costs in 2019, it will be critical to have as the large increases in reef fish will also create large increases in illegal fishing pressure.
