Welcome to the Sea Watch Collaborative History Project. In the last 40 years, the Sea of Cortez has been transformed from one of the richest Seas on the planet to an ecosystem on the verge of collapse. We want you to help us document the Sea as it once was and the events that have led to its collapse.
We want you to help us document this process so that we can all better understand what it used to be like, what happened, and what can be done to reverse the declines. We want pictures, stories and information about the abundance and diversity that used to exist and events that caused it to disappear.
(For example, if you have information about the drift gillnet boats that started working the Pacific Coast of the Baja in the early 1980s and if you have information about the declines shortly thereafter to the white sea bass and thresher sharks we will add that. Before long we will start getting cause and effect data)
If you have images you would like to add, please e-mail them to us, and let us know which
article they belong with. If you'd prefer that we add an article for you,
please send it to us, and we'll be happy
to do the editing.
